Evaluation

I started of creating a blog were I looked at different magazines I analysed them and thought about what needed to be included when creating a front cover of a magazine, I took LIIAR into consideration as all of these things were important to create a successful piece. I looked at all different magazines including music magazines and college magazines so that I had an idea of which target audience I needed to think about

At first I started planning the front cover I did a draft were I used boxes to plan were I was going to put everything, I then took some pictures of a friend outside a library holding books as my idea was that the magazine was going to feature the new college library opening. I chose a few of the pictures that I thought were the most successful. I experimented with the pictures I had. I started to use one of the photos which didn’t end up been my final image, I played around with the text and thought about were to put it, but decided it was the image that was the problem, I used the four photos on my blog to experiment with.

I named my college E.R.C as the photo I had taken was outside an east riding library and it all fitted together. I first did the masthead I wanted to keep it quite simple as the picture was the main focus point, I had it in capital letters as it was the main piece of text on the front cover, I chose the colour I did as it went with the picture. I then thought about how I wanted to say about the library opening I made the text “ New Library!” bold to emphasis the main headline in the magazine I then had the words join free in bold to emphasis that as well. I then had the sort of slogan in bold, “ERC” newly improved college magazine, this told people exactly what it was. I added what was going to be in the magazine in italics as this was not the main story in the magazine but still thought it needed to be included on the front cover. I added the email on the bottom as this is essential on a college magazine, I put it on the bottom as that is usually were people look for an email or those sort of details.

I think my front cover clearly outlines what the target audience is as soon as you see it you look at the picture of the student holding books that indicates that its something to do with a college or school.

I feel my front cover is successful and if was a real magazine I think it would catch the right audience, I think the way I have used a picture as the main focus point works well.

experimenting with the pictures i have.

This is one of the pictures i used to decide which one i was going to use i adde text to see what looked good, and what was succesfull, this is just the one i experimented with and not my final one.....

planning for front cover of college magazine

This is just some planning ideas for the front cover of a magazine after looking after different magazines i decided what a front cover needed to incude, i tried out some ideas to see what would work,
in my magazine i will use these key concepts.
L-Language the language that is used, soundlighting, mise en scene.
I-institution companies of television
I- ideology is a set or attitudes, beleifs and values.
A- audience who the magazine is for men/women varied ages
R-representation, the process whereby the media constructs versions of people, places and events in images, words or sounds for transmission through media texts to an audience.
Target audience: my target audience is, studants going to the college, parents of the studants and people envolved in colleges or schools, it has to look good and professinal as new studants wanting to that college may look at this as an indication.

college magazine

This is the front cover of a college magazine, it has a specific target audience as it would be read by the people attending the college, as well as people involving schools of colleges.
the similarities between this magazine and the music magazine is that they both have a main title and a main picture which is the main element of the front cover and has on the front whats going to be in the magazine, the difference is it is based only on the college, it usually has a picture of the college and of a studant.

deconstruction of a magazine contents page

contents pages are very simple they have the subject and the number page its on, that is always listed making it easy to read.

They usually have pictures of the main subject to let people know whats going to be in the magazine.

subtitles big - nme this week, this uses the name of the magazine which is succesful.

It then uses an offer saying subscribe today this also works as it makes people feel they are saving money.

DECONSTRUCTION OF A MAGAZINE.
main image- the main band featured in the magazine,
logo and title large in the corner so you now what magazine it is and is very recognisable as it is simple and bright red,
subtitle- being the band that is been issued in the magazine it uses big letters to stand out.
It includes small subtitles telling you what else is going to be in the magazine.
At the top of the magazine it says the uks biggest music magazine, this is almost like a slogan this also stands out and makes the magazine sound good.
The image also shows what kind of music or band that is featured as it shows the person smashing his guitar against the picture also connects with the title which is also effective.
